Oriental Weddings

The weather has been beautiful for our Spring brides here in Oriental, North Carolina.  Luckily for the waterfront weddings and receptions held here in recent weeks, any rain came either before or after the events plus – for an Oriental waterfront wedding – there are several back up locations ‘just in case.’
Lou Mac Park, diagonally across the street from our waterfront hotel in Oriental, NC made a perfect setting for our April and May brides as the sun reflected like thousands of tiny diamonds off the waters of the Neuse River.  The view is over four miles wide at Oriental and guests and brides all declared it to be delightful.  Please stay tuned for the latest videos and photos to be uploaded onto our website.
Late April to Mid June is also a great time to be in Oriental as a wedding guest.  There’s a lot going on in town every year beginning in April.  The Annual In-Water Boat Show and Homes Tour are held in April and the Pamlico County Arts Council hosts the “Art on the Neuse” annual art show in May.  But that’s just the beginning.
Our local businesses are a treat for villagers and guests alike.  The Village Gallery hosts a special guest artist every month and viewing their artwork makes for a delightful hour spent browsing the gallery.  The Neuse River Winery is open Thursday through Saturday.  Drop in for a complimentary wine tasting and vineyard tour.  Bow-To-Stern Boating Center offers boat and kayak rentals and there are plenty of quiet waterways to explore here in Oriental.  Or drop in at Nautical Wheelers where you can sample their excellent stock of unique wines on Saturday afternoons and then stop by Marsha’s Cottage to find a stunning dress or the perfect accessory for the wedding reception.
If you want to experience something different, come down on Thursday evening to start your weekend off with the “Drummin’ Dragons.”  This impromptu group of drummers always has a variety of extra drums on hand for visitors who want to give it a try.  They meet regularly on Thursday evenings in Lou Mac Park from 7:00 – 8:30.  Dancing as the beat moves you is greatly encouraged.
There’s music and drinks at the Tiki Bar for those who want to kick back, watch the boats and the water and simply unwind and enjoy life.
There’s also the Oriental Express Bicycle Club who take off on a leisurely eight mile ride every Saturday morning.  Just show up with your bicycle and helmet.  And the Oriental History Museum is a delightful place to wander through on a Saturday morning or afternoon.  The town’s history is both interesting and unusual.  Ever wonder how we got our name?  Stop by to find out from our knowledgeable and friendly docents.
Wedding guests never have to wonder what to do with their time before the important event.  Oriental, NC is a charming and delightful place to spend the weekend just strolling or biking through the village (use our courtesy bicycles) to discover what makes life in Oriental a paradise.
