Awesome Beauty on the Neuse Even in Storms

This afternoon produced the latest installment in a line of thunderstorms that have moved through Oriental.

Here’s a striking photo of a 75 foot fishing trawler, barely discernible at a little over two miles offshore, motoring into a squall.  Unlike some recent violent storms, this one didn’t produce lightning and heavy winds– only a torrential downpour.

As is often the case, a photo just doesn’t do the live experience justice.  There were others out along the riverfront with their cameras recording this spectacle.
